Our Beaver is a low poly papercraft kit of Canada's national animal - captured in its most characteristic pose: leaning forward, focused, ready to work along side a stump. A nod to the animal that has been shaping Canada's landscape for millennia - and to the builder who is about to do the same.

3 to 4 hours of build time. Pre-cut and pre-scored on heavyweight cardstock. No scissors, no printing, no experience needed.

The finished sculpture has warmth and personality. The rounded body, the flat tail visible from behind, and the focused stance make it an immediately recognizable piece.

Part of the Poly Paper Craft Canadian wildlife collection. Designed in Montreal since 2016.

Every kit includes:

  • Pre-cut and pre-scored papercraft sheets on heavyweight cardstock
  • A practice kit: a tiny mushroom, to learn the fold technique before you start (a little bit tricky on purpose)
  • Step-by-step instructions in 6 languages (FR/EN/ES/PT/IT/DE)
  • Glue not included

No scissors needed. No printing. Everything is ready to fold.

Meet your animal.

Canada's national animal - the original Canadian engineer.

The North American beaver (Castor canadensis) is Canada's official national animal, formally recognized as a symbol of Canadian sovereignty in 1975. No animal has shaped Canadian history more profoundly. The European demand for beaver pelts drove the exploration and colonization of the country, established its economic foundations, and defined its early borders. The Hudson's Bay Company, founded in 1670 to trade beaver fur, is still in operation today.

Canada remains the beaver's heartland. With an estimated population of 15 million animals, beavers are found in every province and territory. The world's largest beaver dam - 850 metres long and visible from space - is in Alberta's Wood Buffalo National Park.

The beaver is a true ecosystem engineer. Its dams create wetlands that provide critical habitat for hundreds of species, slow water flow, filter sediment, and raise water tables. Ecologists increasingly recognize the beaver not just as an animal, but as a tool for habitat restoration.

Its biology is equally remarkable. Orange teeth - coloured by iron-rich enamel - never stop growing. Its flat tail functions as a rudder in water, a counterbalance on land, and an alarm signal: slapped against the surface, it can be heard hundreds of metres away.

This kit shows the beaver leaning forward in characteristic working posture, with a pointed log as both prop and a quiet nod to the practice kit inside the box.
