The Polar Bear is one of our most popular kit - the Arctic's apex predator, standing on all four feet, rendered in near-white paper with extraordinary geometric detail. Perfect gift for someone with a keen eye for design.

4 to 5 hours of build time. Pre-cut and pre-scored on heavyweight cardstock. No scissors, no printing, but significant patience and dexterity required.

The finished sculpture is a study in light. White and cream facets catch illumination differently at every angle - a piece that changes throughout the day. One of the most striking builds in the collection.

Part of the Poly Paper Craft Canadian wildlife collection. Designed in Montreal since 2016.

Every kit includes:

  • Pre-cut and pre-scored papercraft sheets on heavyweight cardstock
  • A practice kit: a tiny mushroom, to learn the fold technique before you start (a little bit tricky on purpose)
  • Step-by-step instructions in 6 languages (FR/EN/ES/PT/IT/DE)
  • Glue not included

No scissors needed. No printing. Everything is ready to fold.

The largest land predator on Earth - built for a world of ice.

Canada is home to approximately 16,000 polar bears (Ursus maritimus) - roughly two-thirds of the global population. They are found across the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The polar bear is not actually white. Its fur is transparent and hollow, and its skin is black. The appearance of white fur results from the way light scatters through each hollow hair - the same phenomenon that makes snow appear white. The black skin underneath absorbs solar radiation, helping the bear retain warmth in Arctic conditions.

Polar bears are classified as marine mammals - they spend more time at sea than on land, navigating ice floes in search of ringed seals, their primary prey. An adult male can weigh up to 800 kg and swim hundreds of kilometres between ice floes. Their massive, slightly webbed front paws function as paddles.

As Arctic sea ice declines, polar bears face increasing pressure on their habitat and food supply. Churchill, Manitoba, on the western shore of Hudson Bay, is one of the most accessible places in the world to observe polar bears in the wild.
